Planning commission approves garage addition at Ruby's Inn

The Bryce Canyon City Planning Commission on Friday approved a proposed garage and associated parking expansion for Ruby's Inn, finding the structure conforms with local zoning and utility setback requirements. Chair (first speaking at SEG 001) introduced the item and described ownership and the applicant's plan to remove an older structure and expand parking; commissioners then discussed setbacks, materials and siting before voting to approve.

Commissioners questioned placement relative to a sewer line and the main road. A presenter answering technical questions stated, "It's wood construction" and said the building is set "about 15, 20 feet" from the sewer line and "about 40 feet off of the road." Chair said on the record that the proposal "does fit within the structures that are in the zoning" and noted the use is not commercial and is consistent with other garages in the vicinity. The commission moved and seconded approval; multiple commissioners responded "Aye" and Chair announced the garage was approved.
