Select Board to seek state review and set public hearing ahead of November referendum

Ron Smith told the board he expects the state review process to be relatively quick given prior conversations with DECD staff and recommended submitting an initial draft so state reviewers can suggest edits. He said he aims to present a 2025 audit in late September or early October and return with a public‑hearing packet the board can use to inform voters ahead of a November referendum.

Board members confirmed they would like to see the draft language before it goes to the state and emphasized the need to meet statutory deadlines for warrant and referendum publication. The board discussed holding public education sessions in advance of any vote and asked staff to identify required statutory dates for referendum placement.
