Commission presses vendor for onsite support as Tyler software conversion hampers 2027 budget work

County department heads and commissioners spent an extended portion of the meeting discussing unresolved issues with the Tyler financial software conversion and the impact on preparing the 2027 preliminary budget.

Several department heads said they cannot generate reliable reports from the new system and requested on-site vendor support to reconcile 2025 and 2026 data. "I can't believe that they didn't task, like, 1 person from Tyler or 2 people or whatever to get us all on board to make sure the books came out to where the last books were," one commissioner said. Another urged a stronger stance: "If you guys want me to be the pit bull on Tyler, I'll do it. Give me the reins. I'm sick of it."

Commissioners voted to schedule a special budget meeting for Friday at 8:00 a.m. to work through law enforcement center budget items and to set a preliminary budget hearing for Sept. 15 at 6:00 p.m. Staff and commissioners agreed to ask the county attorney to draft a forceful letter to the vendor and to seek hands-on assistance so county staff can close the year and move forward with 2027 budgeting.
