Planning board briefed on micro‑mobility work; city not providing e‑bikes, staff to focus on regulation

Director Kent Wallen told the planning board that the Commission had asked staff to begin work on a micro‑mobility ordinance, chiefly to address e‑bike operation on public rights of way. Wallen emphasized the scope is regulatory: the city will not be procuring or distributing e‑bikes.

"It has nothing to do with the city providing them," Wallen said when board members asked whether the city would be supplying e‑bikes. Staff indicated the micro‑mobility work will look at speed regulations and operational rules that could be codified or handled administratively; the matter was presented for information and will return to the board as draft language is developed.
