Mukwonago trustees discuss water-tower repainting options; cost, branding and a school 'M' debated

Public Works presented options for a 2027 water-tower rehabilitation, including keeping the flag and two alternative graphics — one that incorporates the school 'M' and another with a bear-paw motif. Trustees and staff discussed aesthetics, trademark concerns, cost and community recognition.

A staff member noted that whether the tower uses the white letters or a more elaborate graphic, the underlying rehab and recoating cost is driven by sandblasting and protection work and is "probably about $1,200,000". Trustees voiced preferences: several favored the white Mukwonago lettering and the flag, while at least one trustee and some members supported the bear-paw option; no formal vote was taken and staff reported they have documentation from the school supporting logo use.
