Board highlights Jeremiah Denton documentary, Merle Award and ship christening coverage

Board members described a recent documentary about Jeremiah Denton that won the Merle Award and received national coverage; the documentary was screened for Navy leadership and a copy was included in the ship's museum collection at the christening of the USS Jeremiah Denton.

"I asked that we do a biography on Jeremiah Denton... it won the Merle Award," the chair said, recounting the production, the Navy screening and the christening event at Ingalls Shipyard. Board members said the documentary generated national attention and that the Denton family contributed artifacts for the ship's master collection.
