City staff: UDOT designing Vineyard Connector trail connection to lakefront network

A commissioner asked for an update on the Vineyard Connector sidewalk and overpass to Geneva Road. City staff said the trail connection is in UDOT's design phase and the city is coordinating with neighborhood HOAs to connect the trail into the lakefront network.

"U DOT is going through designs right now," staff said, adding that the city is working with HOAs on how to connect the trail to the lakefront area so it ties into the existing trail network. Staff characterized the work as design-phase coordination rather than construction; no construction schedule or funding specifics were provided during the meeting.

Commissioners and staff agreed to continue coordination and to notify the commission as design progress yields opportunities for city input or needed approvals.
