Board approves $23,000 service line for stadium scoreboard and future lighting capacity

The Fairbanks Local Board of Education authorized a $23,000 project to extend electrical service to the back of the stadium to power the scoreboard and press box. Staff said the district had conduit installed under Campus Access Road during earlier work, which reduces routing complexity and cost compared with pulling power through the weight room and around the track.

A staff member described the benefit as creating "future capacity" for additional electrical uses near the stadium, including potential lighting or maintenance access to adjacent property. Board members supported the multi‑use approach and approved the work by roll call. Staff said they will coordinate the pull-through timing with contractors once funding and scheduling are confirmed.
