Clerk Chanel Lam presented a two‑month financial update for Kane County, walking commissioners through revenues, expenditures and budgeted columns for the general fund and a range of restricted funds.
Lam highlighted that earlier allocations for road work had been carried forward: "We allocated 1,500,000 for that last year that we didn't use, and so we carried that over for this year so that we could get a better project." She also said, "So 3,000,000 on that budget is going for road improvements. And then 2,200,000, was what was allocated for the establishing and promoting." Lam reviewed the library fund, trails projects, the 911 fund mapping upgrade and multiple task‑force and grant funds; she noted grant increases may require a future budget adjustment.
The clerk also reviewed specialized funds including the municipal building authority (bond repayments), the RDA fund (where increment is held until distribution criteria are met) and the opioid settlement fund (used to support recovery and outreach center bond payments). Lam flagged that some funds were running on fund balances and that staff will return with any needed budget adjustments after grant awards are finalized.
