La Grange board authorizes bids for highway materials and approves two MEO hires

The board approved the highway superintendent’s request to solicit bids for materials and road sweeping services for the 10/01/2026–09/30/2027 contract period. The Chair moved, the motion was seconded, and the board approved the request by voice vote.

The board also approved filling two MEO (municipal equipment operator) vacancies to support upcoming paving and maintenance work. A highway department representative later updated the public on planned paving at Birch Hill, Lakeview, McGee and May Court and described ongoing brush chipping from the July 4 storm cleanup.

"We are starting paving on Birch Hill...If things are already prepped, ready to go, we just have to put in our risers," the highway representative said, summarizing the schedule and the department’s current priorities. Residents were asked to avoid cones and expect line painting in the coming days.

Why it matters: the procurement and staffing moves enable the department to advance scheduled resurfacing and maintenance work before school starts and to continue storm-recovery cleanup.
