Sun Valley council approves tentative FY2018–19 budget changes, schedules Aug. 2 public hearing

The Sun Valley City Council approved revisions to the tentative fiscal year 2018–19 budget during a special meeting on July 3, directing staff to advertise legal notice for a public hearing on Aug. 2, 2018 at 4:00 PM for the annual appropriation ordinance.

Council Member Jane Conard moved to adopt the changes made July 2 and July 3 to the tentative budget and to incorporate healthcare changes contingent on a separate action scheduled for July 5; Council President Keith Saks seconded the motion. A roll call vote recorded ayes from Saks, Conard, Michelle Griffith and Brad DuFur and no nays. Mayor Peter Hendricks declared the motion approved.

The council resumed review of the budget from its July 2 meeting, focusing on department requests and capital items. Staff answered detailed questions about department needs during the review. The hearing on Aug. 2 will be the next formal opportunity for public input before the appropriation ordinance is finalized.
