Street department requests and Street & Path Fund proposal draw council questions; one-time supply purchase adjusted

Street Superintendent Whitesell reviewed the Street Department’s FY19 budget items and the council discussed maintenance schedules for city pathways. Mayor Peter Hendricks asked for a schedule that would show whether particular paths are maintained annually, biannually, or every other year.

Council Member Jane Conard questioned a $4,500 increase in Operating Supplies; Street Maintenance Worker II Slater Storey explained the amount represented a one-time purchase of hose parts expected to last several years. After discussion, the council reduced the FY20 Operating Supplies estimate to $2,600. Robertson also explained the Street & Path Fund and the proposed FY19 funding sources for pathway projects. No formal capital appropriation was adopted at the meeting.
