Council delays decision on generator installation after discussion of retaining wall to save roughly $30,000

Street Superintendent Whitesell proposed advancing part of the new generator installation now by building a retaining wall, which he said would save about $30,000. Council President Keith Saks raised concerns about contractor hiring and indemnification for subcontractors; the council recessed to inspect the site and on return recommended consulting the City Engineer for cost estimates before proceeding.

The council decided to discuss the generator installation again at the September meeting after staff consults the City Engineer and provides pricing. No formal motion to proceed with construction was made during the special meeting.
