Planning director reports staff departures, record digitization, and civic projects

Planning Director Wright told the commission the building official is retiring and the code enforcement officer accepted a position elsewhere; staff recruitment will begin for both roles. He also summarized a high volume of permit work this year (noting many school projects), an ongoing effort to digitize records ahead of a building move, and continuing progress on civic capital projects.

"So our building official, is retiring," Director Wright said, adding that the department is recruiting to fill the position and that staff will continue to manage permit workload and digitization. He noted the museum project is advancing with the third story work expected soon and a contract in place to start city hall construction, with a planned move in early 2027.
