Homeowner Scott Sjogren (S4) told the board that a recent renovation and detached garage left the property 1.7 percentage points over the village's lot-coverage limit after decorative pavers were installed. He asked for a variance to put the pavers back to relieve turning movements for a 160-foot driveway and to match the patio; he said the pavers are pervious "unlocked pavers" and that water flows to a curb and then to the street.
Staff told the board that community services and engineering reviewed the materials and had no issues and recommended the board decide at its discretion; board members described the 1.7% overage as an immaterial increase and expressed support for the aesthetic and practical reasons offered. The motion to approve subject to staff conditions passed unanimously and the advisory recommendation will go to Village Council on June 3.
