ZBA at a glance: three advisory recommendations forward to village council

The Zoning Board of Appeals voted on three agenda items and issued advisory recommendations to the village council.

1) 824 South Mallard — Fence variance. Motion to approve subject to staff conditions passed unanimously, 6–0. Staff recommended approval referencing existing corner‑lot fences and required landscaping maintenance. The advisory recommendation goes to village council on Jan. 11.

2) 1116–1120 W. Northwest Highway — Baci Pizzeria special use and parking variation. Motion to approve subject to staff conditions passed unanimously, 6–0. Staff asked that the petitioner provide a delivery traffic management plan; council consideration set for Jan. 11.

3) 117 W. Slate Street — Mad Catz / WiseWolf special use for a restaurant, bar and live entertainment. Motion to approve subject to staff conditions passed 4–2 after extensive public comment. Staff asked for additional clarifications and proposed a six‑month staff review of live entertainment to determine if additional noise controls are required. The advisory recommendation is expected to be heard by village council on Jan. 18.

All three advisory approvals are recommendations only; the village council and, where applicable, the liquor commission have final authority.
