Christy Nelson, Robert Huff discuss backgrounds, outreach and community ties on 'Driving with Doctor'

On the program, the trustees gave short personal profiles and explained how those experiences shape their approach to the board. Nelson said she is a parent of two graduates, a business owner and has a nursing background, including work as a school nurse: "I've had 2 boys ... graduated high school from Gunnar High School, so I feel like, the district served them well."

Huff described himself as a lawyer and a business owner and said those roles taught him to listen to different viewpoints and find workable solutions: "For me as a lawyer and a business owner, I've spent my career working through tough issues, listening to different viewpoints ... and then finding workable solutions." Both trustees said they bring relationships across the district that they expect will facilitate communication with families and staff.

The segment also included a light rapid-fire portion in which the trustees named their favorite school activities and subjects, reinforcing the cultural touchpoints the board cited as important to preserve as the district grows. The interview was framed as an introductory, human-interest conversation rather than a forum for formal policy announcements.
