Several zoning and land-use items were approved by committees and placed on the meeting's consent agenda. The Police Policy & Code Services Committee recommended unanimous approval for the retaining-wall variation at 262 North Smith Street (staff described the wall as roughly 3 feet tall and about 76 feet long) and the committee also recommended approval for a deck-and-fence variation at 23 East Country Club Court. Staff told the committee the proposed deck would be 18 inches above grade, two inches above the code allowance, and that the ZBA and staff recommended approval.
The committee also approved a special-use amendment to allow seating at an existing convenience store (2391 North Hicks Road), with staff noting parking levels in the shopping center were sufficient; and it approved transferring a planned development to permit continued restaurant operation at 1960 North Rand Road, which staff said involved no operational or menu changes. All of these items were recommended by staff and the Zoning Board of Appeals and were forwarded to the consent agenda with little public opposition.
