The Police Policy & Code Services Committee voted to approve a zoning variation that would allow a new wood board‑on‑board fence to be placed at the property line along Kenilworth Avenue at 202 South Forest Avenue.
Staff told the committee the request contains two relief components: placing the fence on the property line (about 1 foot behind the sidewalk given right‑of‑way) and installing it without the normally required landscaping. A planning staff member said the site already contains "some dense plantings" and that the Zoning Board of Appeals had recommended approval. The staff representative asked the committee to include a condition requiring landscaping be installed and maintained to a form "acceptable to the village" if the council approved the variation. "There's contemplation of condition that that would require that, should you approve it," the staff member told the committee.
Chairman Councilman Kozlowski and committee members indicated support; the chair said the item would be placed on the council's consent agenda for final action. No members of the public spoke about the fence during the committee meeting.
