The Infrastructure & Environment Committee approved a motion directing staff to execute an intergovernmental agreement among the Village of Palatine, the Palatine Park District, and the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District (MWRD) to facilitate construction of a 48‑inch storm relief sewer along the Arlington Heights branch of Salt Creek.
An MWRD representative told the committee the project is designed to alleviate flooding affecting the Wellington Park townhomes by installing a 48‑inch diameter storm sewer across golf course property that will discharge to the creek; MWRD expects to take the project to its board and put it out to bid this month. Staff said the agreements address ownership and maintenance and that arrangements were made with the park district to allow golf course use to continue during construction. The committee approved moving forward with the IGA execution.
