Council awards drainage-improvements contract not to exceed $63,550

The Infrastructure & Environment Committee reviewed a bid summary for the village's 2015 drainage-improvement projects, which cover five locations where stormwater capacity or collection issues were identified. Public works staff reported seven bids were received and recommended awarding the contract to the lowest responsive bidder for an amount not to exceed $63,550.

The scope includes small-diameter drainage work in right-of-way and easements (Helen West of Cedar, Sandpiper Court, South Bend, South Cedar and a connector linking West Center and Northern Dunhaven Woods). Staff said easement encroachment issues had triggered code-enforcement steps where applicable. The committee approved forwarding the award to the consent agenda and the chair indicated the item would appear on the consent calendar.

Why it matters: The improvements target localized flooding and drainage constraints in multiple neighborhoods and are budgeted within the village's annual capital program. The award fills a near-term construction need and begins the process of scheduling field work.
