Hannibal board authorizes repairs after park vandalism, estimates $7,000 in damage

The Hannibal Town Board on July 8 authorized immediate repairs after Supervisor Kim Malone reported that vandals damaged several park facilities, estimating about $7,000 in total damages. Malone told the board six wheelchair-accessible tables had been broken and bent, rocks had been placed in a port-a-potty, and the baby changing station and toilet-paper dispenser were destroyed. The board passed Resolution 31-2026 to move forward with repairs.

Board members voted unanimously to approve the repairs. The board also approved a separate purchase not to exceed $1,600 for a basketball hoop and pole for the park under Resolution 33-2026. The board noted it is pressing charges against the individuals Malone said were identified as the perpetrators.
