County to fund Mount Vernon summer basketball program for up to 90 youth at $15,000

The Westchester County Board of Legislators authorized an intermunicipal agreement with the city of Mount Vernon to fund a six-week summer basketball program running from July 6 through Aug. 14 for an amount not to exceed $15,000.

"This is an IMA between the county and the city of Mount Vernon, for a 6 week summer basketball program, again, as aforementioned, from July 6 to August 14 for $15,000 to serve up to 90 youth from ages 6 to 16," said the item sponsor when moving the IMA. The sponsor described the program as an important regional camp and noted committee support; the motion passed 15–0.

The funds are intended to support camp operations and youth participation; county staff will execute the IMA and coordinate with Mount Vernon on invoicing and program reporting.
