During the consent-agenda review, a commissioner asked to pull item 37—a budget amendment request from the sheriff's office transferring funds from the general fund for medical costs—so the court could seek more information about provider changes and recurring expenses.
"I have this 1 pulled for 2 reasons. 1, I think we have a new provider. So I wanna make sure that we are having the conversations with them to make sure that we don't have these medical overruns next year," a commissioner said on the record. Budget staff told the court that the current budgeted amount for medical expenses is around $7,000,000 while anticipated need is closer to $9,000,000. The commissioner said the goal was to ensure the budget office budgets appropriately next year if recurring costs are expected.
The court did not take final action on the item during the consent vote and directed staff to follow up with the provider and revisit the amendment with updated information.
