Cameron County court approves county clerk's annual records preservation plan

The Commissioners Court acknowledged and approved the county clerk's annual preservation plan for fiscal year 2026–27, a plan the presenter said is required under Texas Local Government Code §118.025 and describes funding and steps for preserving the clerk's recording archive.

The presenter reported recent preservation activity and materials scheduled for offsite preservation, including "97,000 criminal case files, 19,59 criminal microfilm reels, 5 historical volumes, 3 criminal minute books, and 2 commissioner's court books" to be transported for preservation work; the clerk asked for the court's acknowledgment and approval and thanked the judge for funding assistance. Commissioners moved to approve the plan and expressed appreciation for the clerk's work to manage and protect public records.
