County agrees to advertise for adoption of grant-funded bridge removal; engineering and bids needed

Staff told commissioners the bridge removal project on the Cheyenne River is eligible for full state funding, but historic-preservation steps apply; the county must advertise the structure for adoption and perform engineering and bidding work to use the funds.

Jessica (county staff) said the removal is "100% funded" through the state and that historic-status rules require advertising the structure to allow adoption by another party before removal. Commissioners supported advertising and asked staff to prepare draft language for public notice and to begin the procurement process (engineered plans and bid documents) if the county intends to use the grant funds. A motion to proceed and advertise was made, seconded and carried by voice vote.

County staff will prepare draft verbiage for the public notice and return with timeline and procurement needs.
