Staff outlines 10x10 limit and utility rules for micro-entrepreneur accessory structures

Planning staff clarified standards for accessory structures tied to micro-entrepreneurship, telling the commission such structures "must be freestanding, movable and not exceed 10 feet by 10 feet in size," and that they may be used only for storage and incidental on-site sales related to the micro-entrepreneurship.

Tyson, a staff member, explained additional limits: the structure must not be permanently affixed to the ground; it shall not contain plumbing or permanent utilities unless otherwise approved; and it must comply with applicable setbacks, visibility, and compatibility standards. The commission discussed lot-size context (RM7 lots are 7,000 square feet) to confirm the scale of these uses relative to residential parcels.

Commissioners noted that making micro-entrepreneurship a conditional use requires applicants to demonstrate compliance with the city’s other standards before receiving approval.
