Board votes to publish public notice for 2026–27 operating budget; public hearing Aug. 18, adoption Sept. 1

The Tangipahoa Parish School Board voted Aug. 4 to publish the public notice for the proposed 2026–27 operating budget, clearing the way for public comment ahead of a scheduled adoption vote on Sept. 1. Assistant superintendent/staff (Mister McNeely) explained the step is for advertising the budget and that adoption will follow after appropriate public notice and comment.

During discussion a board member asked for the specific hearing date; staff confirmed the public hearing will be Aug. 18 and the adoption vote will be on Sept. 1. The board approved the motion by roll call with no opposition recorded.

"So this is the, your approval to publish the budget and then we will come back to you for adoption of the budget after it's been advertised and appropriate time for public comment," staff advised during the meeting.
