Policy committee tables proposed cyberbullying addition, refers draft to Forethought for review

The Policy Committee of the Whole voted to table a proposed cyberbullying section to school policy JCDAF and referred the draft to Forethought and the district administration for further review.

Mister Duncan moved to table the item and send it to Forethought and the administration; the motion was seconded and approved in a roll-call vote. As Mister Duncan put it during discussion, the board should "make sure we do it right and, and that by, I think, adopting this recommendation, we will make sure that we have a good solid, enforceable policy." The chair confirmed the motion passed and said the item would be referred to Forethought and administration for additional review and recommendation.

The committee discussed that attorneys had reviewed the draft and suggested further consideration by Forethought; the administration was asked to use that review period to examine the policy as well. No public commenters addressed the item during the committee meeting. The committee did not adopt the policy and took no immediate regulatory action beyond the referral.
