Council agrees to continue drawing park maintenance from Conservation Trust Fund for up to two years

Administrator Canfield said the town had budgeted park maintenance from the Conservation Trust Fund this fiscal year and asked whether the council wanted to continue that practice. She said using the fund this year reduced pressure on the general fund but would draw down reserves: "If we wanna redo all the park equipment...I don't think we wanna do that," she said, and estimated the fund would drop toward or below $50,000 depending on spending choices.

Council members offered a mix of opinions: some supported spending the trust for maintenance for one or two years to ease general-fund strain, while others urged exploring park-impact fees on commercial development and grant opportunities to replenish the fund. Staff said the Conservation Trust Fund receives modest lottery-proceeds revenue and currently sits invested in ColoTrust.
