Magistrate orders pool secured within seven days; city may abate if not remedied

City code officer Jarvis Gamble told the magistrate that the pool enclosure and maintenance at 1016 Mayflower Road posed a threat to public health and safety. Owner Catherine Irizarry said she needed time (30–60 days) to coordinate permits and affordable repairs and proposed fencing the property; staff and the magistrate stressed immediate temporary measures for safety and the availability of the city's nuisance abatement program if the owner failed to secure the pool.

The magistrate ordered the owner to properly secure the pool within seven days, advised the owner to consult with staff to confirm the compliance method, and warned that the city would bid out abatement if the order was not met; abatement costs and $100-per-day fines would be assessed against the property. The magistrate noted that stagnant water had been addressed and that the maintenance violation remained.
