Kane County commissioners recognized IT staffer Christian Reed during their Aug. 4 meeting for designing and maintaining several in‑house systems that county staff said delivered substantial savings and improved services.
Devin, who presented the examples, said Christian designed the countys replicated server and database storage system, custom audio‑visual integrations for multiple county facilities, a property-watch fraud notification system and an exhibit registration system for the county fair. "Generally, between the two, Christian has saved us easily over a $100,000 in upfront costs," Devin said. The commission presented a small award and a photo opportunity and thanked the IT department for its work.
Commissioners emphasized the value of having in‑house technical capacity in a small county and acknowledged Reeds preference for staying out of the spotlight. No formal action or budget item followed the recognition; it was presented as a staff appreciation and public acknowledgement.
