Commission accepts TRT advisory board recommendations, discusses process for specific project approvals

Patty presented the Kane County Tourism (TRT/TRCCA) advisory boards recommended expenditures for 2026 and explained which items are statutorily required and which are discretionary. She noted the board will meet again in the fall to align recommendations with the county budget year.

Commissioners probed whether previously budgeted project money could be allocated to non‑county projects without a separate public vote. Commissioner Myers said she would "definitely want the chance to have a public vote again about specific expenditures," and the commission directed staff to place particular allocations on a future agenda for public consideration. Patty moved that the commission accept the advisory board recommendations as presented; commissioners voted unanimously to accept the recommendations.

Patty and commissioners emphasized that acceptance of recommendations does not itself release funds; specific expenditures will be brought back for public action when appropriate.
