Commission approves interlocal agreement with North Summit Fire District for paramedic transport

Morgan County commissioners approved an interlocal cooperation agreement with North Summit Fire District to provide paramedic transport and more consistent EMS coverage in areas near the county border.

Staff explained the agreement will allow North Summit to provide paramedic staffing and charge transport fees on a quarterly basis rather than passing costs to county residents; the county would also receive reciprocal mutual aid for fire incidents. Golden Barrett, deputy fire chief, described how donated property from a developer could help a future station expansion and enable full-time staffing.

The commission moved, seconded and approved the agreement unanimously. Commissioner Newton made the motion and Commissioner Fackrell seconded; the vote was recorded as unanimous in favor.
