Board awards Arapahoe bridge contract to L and M Contractors at $597,438.75

Public Works staff (Elizabeth, filling in) told the commissioners the county received two bids for Bridge 075010 on Arapahoe Road and recommended awarding the contract to the apparent low bidder, L and M Contractors, for $597,438.75. Staff said that amount was below the engineer's estimate and provided schedule context: a tentative contractor start date of Feb. 8 and a contract duration that could push completion into late spring depending on notices and calendar days.

"They gave a tentative start date of February 8," Elizabeth (speaker 10) said. Commissioners discussed the engineer's estimate and confirmed the low bid under the estimate. Commissioner (speaker 2) moved to award the bid for replacement of Bridge 075010 south of Inman to L and M Contractors Inc. for a total not to exceed $597,438.75; Commissioner (speaker 6) seconded the motion. The board voted 'aye' and the motion passed.

Public Works also reported ongoing chip sealing and milling schedules and said the bridge crew expected to reopen an RCB west of Maxwell later that week. Staff will return with recommendations for bridge inspection selection and procurement.
