County hears staff and elected officials on FY27 appointed-official salaries; no action taken

Burnet County Commissioners held an extended discussion on Aug. 5 about proposed FY27 salaries for appointed positions including the Chief Public Defender, Elections Administrator and Chief Magistrate and a proposal to remove appointed positions from the Step & Grade classification system. Speakers included Michelle Moore (Chief Public Defender), Perry Thomas (District Attorney), Alan Trevino (Chief Deputy Sheriff), Tamara Tinney (Chief Magistrate), County Clerk Vicinta Stafford, and County Treasurer Karrie Crownover.

Despite testimony and back-and-forth among department heads and officials, the court recorded "No action taken" on agenda item 9(a) (salary setting) and also no action on agenda item 9(b) (removal from Step & Grade). The item will return for further consideration in future budget sessions.
