Menasha details debris, tree and trash pickup plan; limits on contractor access to preserve aid eligibility

Director Martin described the city’s debris-removal strategy and the phased approach for recovery: prioritized routes to restore access, tree and brush removal, then construction-and-demolition (C&D) material collection at the curb. He said the city hired specialized equipment (grappler trucks) to speed removal and coordinated with multiple municipalities and the landfill to handle volumes.

"The intention is not to remove entire homes or garages," Director Martin said, emphasizing that property owners remain responsible for major structural removal and insurance coordination. He warned homeowners that separate piles and careful tracking are needed for FEMA or state catastrophe funding, which is why contractor access to the brush/drop-off site is currently limited to residents only.

Martin also confirmed resumption of regular trash pickups where possible and announced a planned recycling week adjustment. The council approved a resolution waiving bid procedures for immediate tree and debris removal work to accelerate operations.
