Planning staff brief Commission on UDR process; Selectboard named Acting Zoning Administrator

Cassandra LaFayette, Town Planner, reviewed statutory planning resources, the upcoming legal training, and the anticipated process for future Unified Development Regulations (UDR) amendments. Staff asked that Commission members review Part 4 (Administrative Procedures) of the UDR in advance of the Aug. 18 training.

Member Brenda Steady asked that the Commission review updates to S.325 as part of upcoming work on the UDR. Amanda Pitts, Planning & Zoning Director, reported that the Selectboard appointed the Commission's nominee, Vivian Warner, as Acting Zoning Administrator at its Aug. 3, 2026 meeting.

The updates frame the Commission's near-term workload: preparing for the legal training, reviewing administrative procedures in the UDR, and assessing any implications of S.325 updates for local regulations. The appointment of an Acting Zoning Administrator is an administrative staffing change the Commission will work with staff to implement.
