How motions, seconds and votes are recorded in Shelby County’s online meetings

Trainer demonstrated step-by-step how clerks should record motions and capture vote results in the live-manager interface used by Shelby County. He instructed: "When you click on motion and vote, that should show you the movers and seconders. You can hit record. That'll lock in the motion, and then you can hit go to vote." This sequence makes the mover/seconder public and then opens the vote to casting.

The session stressed that a recorded roll call before each contested vote produces accurate tallies. The trainer noted the system computes outcomes using the number of listed voters and that clerks can mark absent or excused members or override the pass/fail rule on the vote screen if the automatic math does not reflect who is present.
