Commissioners approve migration to 1st Digital phone service to avoid end‑of‑life support issues

IT Director Tim Knight briefed the commission that the county’s phone servers are approaching end‑of‑support and that telephony has been moving toward cloud management. Knight said one option would preserve the county’s Cisco equipment and make future migration easier by switching the SIP provider to 1st Digital, which his evaluation found to be less expensive and flexible than the county's current provider.

The board voted unanimously to approve the migration and authorized the IT director to sign letters of authorization and complete necessary paperwork. Knight said the change would allow the county to continue using current desk phones and simplify the longer‑term transition when on‑premises servers reach end of life.
