Commissioners approve ClearDox accessibility tool to bring PDFs into ADA‑compliant viewer

IT Director Tim Knight told commissioners Title II requires state and local public entities to make web content accessible and highlighted the challenge of more than 60,000 PDF pages and roughly 10,000 accessibility issues on the county site. Knight reviewed two vendor options and recommended ClearDox by Revise, noting its $9,500 annual subscription, no setup fee, and a locked price for four years as a practical solution to convert PDFs to an HTML5 viewer for assistive technologies.

Commissioners supported moving forward; Commissioner Richards commended the proactive approach and Commissioner Slaughter emphasized that accessibility is important for residents who rely on assistive tools. The board authorized the chairman to sign the sales agreement and proceed with implementation as part of a broader compliance plan ahead of federal enforcement timelines.
