Council sets Aug. 17 public hearing on rezoning petition from Covered Bridges Coffee Company

The Winterset City Council unanimously approved Resolution No. 2026-35 on Aug. 4 to set a public hearing for Aug. 17, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. to consider reclassification of land from C‑Commercial to I‑Industrial. Council Member Mike Fletcher moved the resolution and Council Member Michael Cook seconded the motion; the roll call vote was unanimous.

The resolution states that Covered Bridges Coffee Company petitioned the Planning & Zoning Commission for the change and that the commission recommended approval at its July 28 meeting. The resolution cites Iowa Code section 414.4 regarding required notice and hearing procedures and directs the City Administrator to publish hearing notice. The Council did not take a final zoning action at this meeting; the public hearing on Aug. 17 will provide an opportunity for parties in interest and citizens to be heard.
