Board approves MOU permitting hospice 'letters to heaven' mailbox at HHS building

Public Works Director Gene Luederski explained that Hospice of Sweetwater County asked to place a small mailbox at the HHS building where families can drop "letters to heaven" for people who have passed. Luederski said the county will not maintain the mailbox nor collect contents; hospice will manage use and removal. He noted the city of Rock Springs reviewed the plan and had no objections given the mailbox’s small size and location.

Commissioners asked no substantive questions and approved the MOU unanimously. The agreement is intended to formalize the arrangement because the mailbox is attached to a county building even though hospice will handle maintenance and collection.
