Brooks County approves multiple tax-sale property sales, one on split vote

Attorney Sylvia Montemayor with Linebarger presented bids on multiple tax-sale parcels and recommended acceptance where appropriate. The Court accepted a $2,600 bid for Lot 10, Block I (Maupin Addition), $500 bids for two parcels (Rachel Addition and one La Colonia Mexicana parcel), a $500 bid for a Maupin Addition parcel, a $70,000 bid for Lots 1 and 2 in the Littlefield Addition, and a $3,400 bid for Lot 12, Block J (Rachal Addition). One parcel (Lots 23–24, La Colonia Mexicana) was approved on a 4–1 vote with Commissioner Rolando Gutierrez recorded as voting no.

Motions to accept individual bids were typically moved by Commissioner Eduardo "Eddie" Garza and seconded by various commissioners; most passed unanimously where recorded. The orders accept the highest bids as reported by the county’s tax-collection counsel and direct staff to proceed with the sale documentation as required by county practice and state law.
