Brooks County tables landfill rules update and rural trash-rate increase for further review

Landfill Supervisor Ruby Allen reported she had contacted surrounding counties to compare rural trash-route pricing as part of a proposed increase to the county’s rural trash route. Judge Eric Ramos read reorganized Rules and Regulations for the Brooks County landfill and mentioned possibly purchasing trash cans for residents. Assistant County Auditor Angela Garcia asked the judge to verify whether purchasing trash cans could be charged to the Health and Sales Use tax.

After discussion, the Court voted to table both the proposed trash-rate increase (item 18) and the revised landfill Rules and Regulations (item 19) for further review. Commissioners recorded unanimous motions to table pending additional data and clarifications.
