Plymouth planning board to discuss short‑term rental rules Aug. 6; joint session with zoning board planned

At the end of the meeting the zoning board chair and staff announced the Planning Board will hold an initial discussion on short‑term rental definitions and regulations on Aug. 6 and that the Planning Board has scheduled a joint work session (inviting the Zoning Board) on Sept. 3.

Staff said the Planning Board ran an online survey and the initial response was roughly split between those who favor regulation and those who do not. Board members said they expect the discussion to be preliminary and encouraged residents to follow the Planning Board meeting where detailed proposals may be presented; the boards flagged that any prospective town regulations could affect how the zoning board reviews future short‑term rental applications.

The announcement was informational; board members suggested notifying the public about the meetings and noted the Planning Board’s goal of beginning a multi‑step consideration of definitions and potential regulatory language.
