Parks report: fall leagues, 1,100 children enrolled and autumn events scheduled

Parks staff reviewed recreation programming and events for the coming months. The department is running coed and adult softball with the fall season beginning Sept. 8 and reported approximately 1,100 children registered for fall youth programs. Staff also listed upcoming events — Kickers starts Sept. 1, Mother Sundance on Sept. 12, Scare on the Square on Oct. 24, and a four-week Harmony at the Harbor concert series starting in October — and mentioned a recent disc golf tournament that drew 137 players.

Board members praised staff and volunteers and discussed inclusion of Rockwall as one of 10 metroplex sites for a 24-hour off-road biking event. Staff credited the Dallas Off Road Bike Association (Dorba) and volunteers for trail maintenance and event staging. “They’re the true heroes in getting those events to come here,” the Staff member said, acknowledging volunteer involvement.
