Committee reviews Lebanon Woolen Mill housing concept, urges river access protections

Members of the Lebanon Pedestrian and Bicyclist Advisory Committee reviewed a concept for the Lebanon Woolen Mill residential project and urged the Planning Board to secure public access to the riverfront. The committee was told the plan will go before the Planning Board next Monday and that past planning approval expires this fall; members were asked to submit written comments in time to influence the site plan.

The committee pressed for details about bicycle parking and public access. The committee's Clerk noted that the project owner has repeatedly said “he wants Lebanon to enjoy the riverfront,” but members said that developer promises should be reinforced with conditions such as an easement. Committee members also discussed a potential overlook and mill-yard gathering space as features that could serve the broader public if access is made permanent.
