Ruidoso to potentially send engine and two personnel to Utah wildfire response

The village’s fire chief told councilors the state requested assistance for wildfires affecting the Northwest U.S., and Ruidoso entered a resource order to send one apparatus (an engine) and two personnel to Utah. "We told them that we would send a truck and 2 personnel up there to help them," the chief said, adding the response is for fire operations and does not currently include water-rescue equipment.

The chief said crews typically deploy for two weeks and the state reimburses expenses after the assignment, including for apparatus use and wear-and-tear. He named the personnel selected for the order as Lieutenant Davis and Firefighter Rodriguez and said the crew would stage in Provo and depart later that morning. Council members asked whether the village would be reimbursed for equipment wear and tear and the chief confirmed reimbursement is standard under the mutual-aid request process.

No final approval vote was recorded at the workshop; staff indicated the village placed the resource order and would await confirmation of acceptance from incident managers in Utah before finalizing deployment details.
