Personnel committee reports hiring progress, compensation study and superintendent search update

The Germantown School District's personnel committee reviewed staffing updates and administrative projects at its Aug. 4 meeting.

Director Castro reported no teacher resignations this month and said the district had hired a returning business education teacher. "We hired a business education teacher," Castro said, adding the new hire is Logan Meyer, who previously taught in the district and will return this fall. The staffing update also noted reductions in special education aide vacancies compared with the prior year (a reported 77% reduction in open positions in that category compared with last August).

Committee members heard an update on a compensation study for administrators and professional technical staff. Staff described options under consideration, including longevity pay and some form of post'employment benefit; presenters cautioned that OPEB is uncommon among comparable districts and said the district would model costs and messaging before making recommendations.

The superintendent search received a status update: the district sent eight RFPs, received five responses, and administrative staff narrowed those to three firms that will present proposals to the full board at a public meeting on Aug. 11. The presentations will be recorded and posted afterwards for community review, staff said.

The personnel committee adjourned after confirming these updates and next steps.
